Angular Contact Ball Bearings

Overview

Angular Contact Ball Bearings
  • Angular contact ball bearings are engineered to carry combined radial and axial loads by utilizing a precisely ground raceway with a defined contact angle—typically 15°, 25°, or 40°. Unlike deep groove bearings with near-zero contact angles, this geometry enables superior axial load capacity and improved stiffness under demanding operating conditions.

  • Talos Bearing supplies ISO 15 boundary dimension angular contact ball bearings in both standard and high-precision grades (P5 / P4). These bearings are designed for a wide range of industrial applications, from general-purpose pumps and gearboxes to high-speed CNC spindle systems operating at elevated dn values, where accuracy, rigidity, and thermal stability are critical.
  • The range covers both single and matched set configurations, enabling engineers to optimize performance for speed, load distribution, and system rigidity in advanced mechanical designs.

Product Series Table

Single-Row 70 / 72 / 73

The most common configuration. Supports combined radial load and axial load in one direction. Often arranged in matched pairs (DB, DF, DT) for bidirectional capacity.

SeriesBore RangeContact AngleConfigurationTypical Application
70.. (Extra Light)4–200 mm15° / 25° Single, or paired (DB/DF/DT)High-speed spindles, small motors
72.. (Light)8–200 mm15° / 25° / 40°Single, or paired (DB/DF/DT)Pumps, gearboxes, machine tools
73.. (Medium)10–200 mm15° / 25° / 40°Single, or paired (DB/DF/DT)Conveyors, agricultural machinery

Double-Row 32 / 33

A single integrated unit equivalent to two single-row bearings arranged back-to-back. Handles radial load plus axial load in both directions within a more compact axial footprint than a duplex pair.

SeriesBore RangeContact AngleConfigurationTypical Application
32..10–200 mm 30°Integral double-rowWheel hubs, pumps, gearboxes
33..15–110 mm 30°Integral double-row (wider)Higher radial load applications

Four-Point Contact QJ2 / QJ3

Single-row design with a split inner ring, allowing the balls to contact the races at four points. Supports heavy axial load in both directions plus radial load — in the same axial footprint as a single-row bearing.

SeriesBore RangeContact AngleConfigurationTypical Application
QJ2..10–140 mm35°Split inner ring, single rowCompact bidirectional thrust + radial, gearboxes
QJ3..15–160 mm35°Split inner ring, single row (heavier)Heavy machinery, pumps, compressors

Quick Selection Guidance

  • Axial load in one direction only, often at high speed: Single-row (70 / 72 / 73 series)
  • Axial load in both directions, space isn't tight: Single-row pair (DB) or Double-row (32 / 33 series)
  • Axial load in both directions, space is limited: Four-point contact (QJ series) — same footprint as a single-row bearing

Applications & Industries

The appropriate precision grade depends on your application’s speed and accuracy requirements.

When selecting a bearing, consider:

  • Shaft and housing dimensions
  • Radial and axial loads
  • Operating speed
  • Working temperature
  • Lubrication method
  • Required precision level

Our engineering team can help you select the most suitable bearing for your application.

Yes — boundary dimensions follow ISO 15, so our bearings are dimensionally interchangeable with major brands. Always confirm contact angle, precision grade, and preload class against the original part to ensure functional equivalence, not just dimensional fit.
